First Southwest Bank announces the promotion of Corey Jimerson to Director of Tax Credit Lending

First Southwest Bank, a locally owned, independent community bank and one of two Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) banks in Colorado, is proud to announce the promotion of Corey Jimerson to Director of Tax Credit Lending and Senior Vice President.

Mr. Jimerson previously served as Commercial Loan Officer, Vice President, at FSWB. In his new role, he will lead and manage all elements of the bank's tax credit lending, including strategy and deployment of New Markets Tax Credit

(NMTC) allocations, annual NMTC application development and submission to the CDFI Fund, and oversight of transaction compliance through the full life of each deal.

Mr. Jimerson has already played an instrumental role in structuring two of FSWB's most complex NMTC transactions: the financing of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley's new Early Childhood Learning Center in Alamosa, and The Action Center's expansion project in Lakewood. The Boys & Girls Clubs deal, a $10.7 million NMTC transaction, is financing a 17,566-square-foot Early Childhood Learning Center to serve a six-county region officially designated as a Child Care Desert, where roughly 4,000 young children currently lack access to quality care. The project will add 160 licensed childcare spots and create 31 new living-wage jobs in early childhood education, cooking, grounds maintenance, and administration, along with 10 modern classrooms built for specialized learning. The Action Center deal, roughly $22.7 million financing supporting the renovation of a former elementary school into a 105,000-square-foot hub for food, clothing, health, and family services, will allow the nonprofit to grow from serving about 48,000 individuals annually to more than 61,000, while adding dozens of new jobs to the community. Both projects reflect the kind of creative, mission-aligned financing that defines FSWB's approach to tax credit lending.

"Corey has consistently demonstrated the credit discipline and business development instincts that this role demands," said Eric Guttormson, Sr. Lending Officer at FSWB. "His work structuring complex NMTC transactions like the Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley and The Action Center speaks for itself, and his deep understanding of our clients and our communities makes him the right leader to grow our tax credit lending program and expand the impact we can deliver across rural Colorado."

Mr. Jimerson's key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading strategy and execution for the bank's New Markets Tax Credit allocation.

  • Sourcing, evaluating, and implementing new tax credit lending opportunities.

  • Overseeing NMTC compliance, reporting, and successful unwinds at the close of compliance periods.

  • Leading and managing the Tax Credit Lending team.

  • Managing relationships with tax credit investors and third-party partners, including legal, accounting, and compliance vendors.

Mr. Jimerson commented on his new role, stating, “I am thrilled for this opportunity to deliver real impact in our communities. The New Markets Tax Credit program can create significant change in rural areas that historically have not had as much access to capital. I am grateful to First Southwest Bank and excited to start working with community stakeholders.”

Prior to joining First Southwest Bank, Mr. Jimerson served as a commercial loan officer at Bank of the San Juans, and spent more than five years at Alpine Bank. He is a graduate of Colorado Mesa University.
